Getting ahead of change: informed innovation

As the healthcare revolution continues, PHG Cambridge can help you get ahead of change. Advances in imaging, testing, and analysis are rapidly transforming how we detect, identify, and distinguish the causes of ill health. The science is complex and fast-moving. The surrounding policy, regulatory and ethical landscape is complex and shifting.

Whether you are translating biomedical research into practice, introducing emerging technologies in clinical decision-making, or wrestling the complexities of ethical data governance, we can help you make informed decisions with confidence and deliver healthcare innovation that works in practice, not just in principle.

Case study

Charting the precision medicine landscape

The Physiological Society wanted to strengthen the evidence base for physiology to play a role in the UK’s growing precision medicine and personalised prevention agenda. They commissioned PHG to partner with them on building a policy report and parliamentary briefing capable of shaping future Government priorities and research funding.

We reviewed the scientific and policy literature to map how physiological research contributes to precision approaches across conditions including cardiovascular disease and neurodegenerative disorders. Working alongside subject experts, we identified concrete examples — from stratified screening to biomarker research  — pinpointing where physiology already delivers clinical utility, and where further research could close existing gaps. This analysis fed directly into a report designed to inform Government thinking on prevention.

The project reflects PHG’s broader approach: pairing rigorous landscape analysis with a clear understanding of where evidence, policy, and practice intersect. For organisations navigating precision medicine, that combination of research fluency and policy insight is what turns emerging science into a workable strategy — helping you make informed decisions with confidence, and deliver innovation that works in practice, not just in principle.

With expertise across medical specialities, public health, biomedical science, ethics, philosophy, and sociology, our team  helps identify and manage the opportunities, complexities, and trade-offs you need to confidentally navigate the impact of change.
